Escape to Yelapa Beach – South of Banderas Bay

When it comes to relax and get away from any sort of stress I could be experiencing, I escape to Yelapa. Some will go work out, others go to the movies. Well I go to Yelapa!
And let me tell you I am not the only one. This little village south of Banderas Bay is only accessible by boat (a panga, better said) and is operated as a community. You can’t live there unless you are accepted by the community. But you can still do an overnight trip and stay at a bungalow in the Hotel Lagunita, situated right on the beach or you can also rent a house.
The beach is gorgeous and features casual seafood restaurants where you will eat with your feet in the sand, literally. If you cross the little river, you will get to the village itself and to the waterfall where some scenes of the movie Predator (featuring Arnold Schwarznegger) were filmed.
The Panga or taxi boat ticket from Los Muertos Beach Pier will cost you $200-250 pesos (US$20-25) per person roundtrip. You will get to sea all the beaches of the area like Las Animas or Quimixto.
Enjoy the trip!
